Ancient Skills
Red Mountain's homeschool program fosters a close mentoring
relationship between adults and students in which we pass on teachings of the
natural world. These teachings are steeped in the practice of ancient skills common to all of our ancestors.
Through skills and storytelling, awareness routines and learning games, we deepen our relationship with nature and with one another.
Our program features routines that teach us to participate fully in the natural world. Using these routines to guide our natural curiosity, we learn about
the habits and habitats of wildlife, and the science and lore of
plants.
Community Support
This program thrives on close interaction between students and mentors, so we maintain an extremely low student to staff ratio.
We offer our students individualized attention and
encouragement to help each student
develop their connections to others.
By giving attention to group dynamics and community building, we form a cohesive group partnership, and encourage a sense of unity through our shared appreciation of the natural world. We offer ancestral stories and wisdom to help support this process.
